Wish I was an Olsen..

Sunday, November 23, 2014

Call me an outfit repeater. I don't care. I wore this outfit about a week ago, but wanted to see how it looked with the addition of tights and a denim jacket. And I gotta say, not a bad decision. (Plus, let's be real, outfits look better on a body than on the floor.) The temperature around Boston has dropped the past couple weeks and since it was a high of 55 degrees today, I skipped the jeans & boots and chose something a little more fun instead. I've mentioned before that I found a few awesome tees from Nylon Magazines shop and this is one of those finds. It's from an online boutique called Nala LA and you can find this awesome pull-over here. Definitely not the last time I'll be grabbing one of their awesome graphic tees. Just the first of many more.

Alt-J

Saturday, November 22, 2014

For my birthday, Nick took me to see Alt-J on Tuesday! And if you like their music, I would absolutely recommend trying to go see them. They were amazing live! And if you haven't listened to them before, give them a shot. Their music is extremely distinct and different from most other English indie rock bands but in a good way.

Camo Combo

Wednesday, November 19, 2014

As of lately, camo have become somewhat of a neutral in my wardrobe. It's easy to wear and doesn't match anything which actually ends up looking amazing. To off-set the green in the camo, I paired it with an unexpected orange. And it's my new favorite combo! This necklace is one of those necklaces that no one really gravitate towards when I was working at Francesca's, except for me. Eventually I just had to buy it and it's one of my favorites. Dresses up a plain white tee (or in this case a camo tee) or just adds a little something to a more formal outfit.

New Balance 620's

Saturday, November 15, 2014

It's official. I've jumped on the sneaker bandwagon. I mean, what's better than knowing I can wear sneakers everyday if I want. And I can still look fashionable? Yup. The best! A couple years back, I found myself at the doctors for having foot pain. After a few x-rays and cortisone shots, I can't wear too high of a heel anymore. Comfort is something I need to take into consideration from now on. So knowing that cute, comfortable shoes are in style, I'm beyond excited. My lovely mom got me these New Balance 620's for my birthday a couple weeks ago and they're perfect.

All art has been contemporary.

Friday, November 14, 2014

Nick and I had an impromptu day off together when he realized that his work would be closed for the holiday! So Tuesday we ventured off to Boston's Museum of Fine Arts since I have been interested in seeing the Hollywood Glamour exhibition they've had. Lots of sequins, diamonds, and beading. What girls dreams are made of(!!!) So glad I brought my camera along to show you guys some of my favorite pieces I saw throughout the day. And not to mention, SO glad I was able to have a day off with my man. Opposite schedules are just the worst!

It was also 60 degrees on Tuesday, so I chose to show a little leg while I could and threw together this cute outfit. So easy to just throw on and go. Even for a date with the guy! A fitted skirt looks perfect with the relaxed fit of the sweatshirt. I just love contradicting pieces.

The OC forever

Thursday, November 13, 2014

The thirteen year old girl in me still dreams of the day that The OC comes back for a 5th season. And dreams of the day Seth Cohen falls in love with me. I know both are totally unrealistic at this point but the least they could do is put the damn series on Netflix, yah hear me ladies?! (Til' then, DVD's will do.) Like the t-shirt junky that I am, I found this shirt on Nylon's site (made by Yatt Clothing) and knew I needed it to add to my collection. I mean, Seth Cohen really was my first love so why not have a t-shirt to show my devotion.
My everyday look is very similar to this. Graphic tee with a chunky piece of jewelry. I love the contradiction. T-shirts are so easy, it's just really fun to throw a big necklace on to off-set the casual vibe. I even added this Olive & Oak cardigan to add just a little more to the look. I grabbed this at Flock because I was just SO cold! It just happened to match my outfit perfectly. Leopard usually only catches my attention if it's a bit more subtle but the size of the print with the unexpected red is just perfect.
And for just a little fun, here's a quick look into the chaos at our apartment when I ask Nick to give me a hand with an outfit look. This time we found ourselves in the bathroom, since it's where you'll find one of the only empty walls in our place. Jasper just couldn't miss out on a photo-op either.

Twenty four

Wednesday, November 12, 2014

I turned 24 last Tuesday! I had a a great birthday week that consisted of dinner & cake with my family (Jack wasn't too sure what to think of the family singing "Happy Birthday"), date night with Nick, and some birthday celebrating with my friends over the weekend. So lucky to be surrounded by such amazing family, friends, boyfriend, co-workers.
Obviously I had to celebrate my birthday in style. I grabbed a Chaser Brand pullover, similar to this Flock piece that I'm so in love with. And I paired the relaxed sweatshirt with this sequin skirt. I actually made this skirt a little while back (See it here from my look-book shoot). Pulled this look together with some slouchy socks and ankle boots and rocked out on the dance floor.

Houndstooth.

Sunday, November 9, 2014

While I was in school, I was interning at Emerson by Jackie Frasier Swan. Super cool designer, super cool women's fashion. Clothes made for the sophisticated bad ass bitch. One of her favorite prints was hounds-tooth, which for me, wasn't really a pattern I had quite yet taken a liking to. Slowly that changed. Since then, I have yet to find that one pattern of hounds-tooth that I felt suited me. I bought this crop top on a whim, I was on my way to the cashier at Forever 21 and saw this on a shelf that was obviously too high for my 5'3" frame. But desperate times called for desperate measures and I found a way to reach it. The top is absolutely what I was hoping for. The perfect crop fit to wear with any maxi or even high-waisted shorts/skirts. But also a heavy weight fabric so it's perfect for all seasons. (The exposed zipper is also a nice little detail.) I eased myself into the pattern with a simple black skirt. But brace yourselves because now I'm dying to pair it with leopard print or even plaid!
