Denim x Grey

Thursday, February 26, 2015

Whenever I get dressed, you can always count on me walking out of my closet in one of three colors - black, grey, or white. Always. I'm not one for color most days. And that statement stands especially true with this long winter. How can you even gather up the energy to wear neon colors when there is no sunshine! My heart hurts until the next time I'm able to do so. Til' then, I'm dreamin'... Ahhh.. Anyways. I got sick of such monochrome attire (and pants apparently) and threw some denim into the mix. Denim matches everything anyways. Plus, I've been really digging shades of blue lately. Started with a scarf, then a beanie, now it's working it's way into the rest of my wardrobe. Oh well. I like it. - XO

I actually enjoy going back and looking at old mini photo-shoots that I use to have with Nick when he first got his camera and when I first started thinking about blogging. A lot of these are extremely amateur. But that's to be expected. When I first started blogging, I would do a post, and after a year of inconsistency, I would delete all the posts because I didn't think they were good enough to actually show and was kind of embarrassed. Girls are constantly putting themselves down, and I was one of those girls. What if the modeling isn't good enough? Should I have worn more makeup? I'm not skinny enough for fashion. Even though I deleted them off of the blog, I still have them and actually wish I had just left them up. Looking back at the photos, they weren't all bad. I should have just stuck it out and kept trying but I guess that's what I'm doing now - better late than never. Just looking back at these old photos has me dreaming of sunshine and tan skin. Both seem like they'll never exist again after this winter that we've had.

Plaid(s)

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

I'm not really sure what I was doing when I got dressed into this but I liked it and it worked. Plaid on plaid, who would have thought. Mixing patterns is a little out of my element. I'm more of a texture freak. I'm still learning about my own personal style every single day and every time I try something new I feel that much more confident in styling, whether it's myself to show you guys or other people. Even something as easy and laid back as this. I spent two hours waiting for trains the past couple days because the weather has just been the worst and the trains are all delayed. So needless to say layers are the most important thing for me right now. That and this cobalt blue beanie.

Drop Waist

Cabin fever has struck. I'm beyond sick of this weather and wearing so many layers. Or not wearing enough layers. It's too cold and we're bracing for another blizzard to strike on Saturday. It's keeping me from getting outside and doing some outfit posts. In serious need of something a little bright because everyone's been so blah lately. Chose a fun colorful piece from TJ Maxx which I paired with these faux leather leggings from Top Knot Goods - which I found shoved in the back of my closet last week when I was doing some cleaning. I can't believe they were totally neglected and for so long! They're the perfect pair of matte black faux leather. I always get turned off to the shiny fabric of other leggings. They've been on repeat all weekend, including with a buffalo plaid babydoll dress.

5 Minute Makeovers

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

I wouldn't say I necessarily like Valentine's Day but I love to love. I love being in love with my man, I love my amazing family, I love being in love with my Jasper. (No. He's not my cat, he's my Jasper.) I love to love. It just helps you enjoy life a little more. So I guess a day full of love is something worth celebrating. Lots of people are probably loving the fact that Valentine's Day is on a Saturday this year. A big night off for most people but for something others, like myself, that's still a work day. And believe it or not, you can spruce yourself up in literally 5 minutes to be date night ready. So there's no reason at all to panic. I'm here to show you a trick. Pop a fun color lip on and a pair of earrings and you will be transformed. Seriously. All I'm wearing is a plain white thermal and jeans but all the looks are different. An amazing outfit definitely isn't detrimental for a good date night. You can always opt for something simple like this to save time after a busy day. And not to mention, each hair-do took me 5 minutes. No curling or anything involved. How easy is that! Choose between fuchsia, pale pink, orange, or burgundy and transform from girly, flirty, bold, or elegant. Hope I helped some of you who were concerned about a time crunch on Saturday.

Valentine's Day 2015

Sunday, February 8, 2015

Do you guys ever need help finding a date night outfit? Yah. Been there. I think I go through every article of clothing in my closet before I finally say those famous, familiar words. I have nothing to wear. Not only do I have nothing to wear but now my closet space is a total disaster and by now I'm absolutely feeling hopeless at finding anything at all to suffice. Before you slip into this same pattern that we've all fallen into before, read this post. In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I'm here for all you ladies who are crying SOS. Since it's blizzarding outside here in Boston, I'm boycotting putting any outfits on and standing in the snow. I've laid out a few different types of outfits since there's many different types of girls. Girly, rocker, or boho babes. Listen up, these outfits are for you.
Go for a chic rocker look: (Jasper's favorite pick.) Leather Jacket // Striped Crop Top // Wedges // Tulle Tutu
Go for a feminine lace look: Blazer // Shorts // Lace Crop Top // Heels
Go for a laid back bohemian look: Kimono // Ankle Boots // Lace Skirt // Band Tee

A Look Into Our Apartment.

Sunday, February 1, 2015

I moved out in May and have since been slowly chipping away at decoration our new space. It's still a work in progress but it's definitely getting there. Here's a quick look into the little corners of our place, maybe you can even take some inspiration from us. Or maybe you've got some room decor tips up your sleeve you'd like to share with me.
