banana republic.

Let's get serious for a moment. I'm swapping out these ripped jeans and band tees and trying to pull myself together (for once). Dressed up casual is a breeze when you have Banana Republic to help you out. I'm definitely not super feminine so pairing a wear-to-work style button down, the Riley striped shirt, with chambray shorts is way more my style than a super feminine dress. I absolutely love these shorts - I'm a huge fan of flea markets and sometimes the heat really gets to you during summer. Linens are the perfect lightweights for those flea market days and I know these chino roll-up shorts will seriously come in handy. They're a nice break from the typical cut-offs I would usually opt for. I also think the length is just PERFECT. I can't emphasize that enough. They're long enough to give the vibe of a boyfriend fit, but short enough to not feel like a bermuda short. Cuff them shorter or longer depending on what look you're going for that day. As far as the striped button down goes, it's hard finding the right fit. Banana Republic has impeccable tailoring and this blouse fits like a glove. I typically am too busty for button downs, so as you can see here I left quite a few buttons undone. But both undone and fully buttoned is stylish in its own way. Layering some dainty necklaces is definitely an alternative accessory to a bandana but since I have a hard time looking entirely too normal, I tossed on a shibori tie dye bandana on instead of jewels. Anyone else loving this trend?! With a few buttons undone and sleeves rolled, busty-ness wasn't an issue with this top and I felt a little more comfortable than I imagined. It's definitely a look I don't feel entirely right rocking too frequently, but I can imagine myself wearing it with some super distressed boyfriend jeans and strappy heels. Perfect for a brunch date! Not to mention, leather jackets and button downs are soooo feminine chic so I'll be trying that as well.

Thank you Banana Republic for sponsoring this post! XO

There's something about a brow bar sunglass that makes me feel European. Remember Leon the Professional? Yah, like that. I feel like Leon. Kinda weird but incredibly cool. The reflective fuchsia lens will be super fun for beach days this summer too. This is certainly a more laid back, simple look - but in reality it's more of what I wear on a daily basis. My job makes it so my days are never the same so I have to make sure I'm comfortable in no matter what I wear. Joggers, boots, and tees are of course a go-to. Easy to toss on when you're running late or just a little extra lethargic. XO

Bomber.

Monday, April 18, 2016

For as tom boyish as I can be sometimes, I was surprised to have just recently added my first bomber jacket into my wardrobe. I really struck gold with this one. The quality is great, and the colors are perfect. And for only $13 at Old Navy. For some reason, I just love Old Navy. I spend a lot of time at my job painting, lifting heavy things, basically just sweating.. and so it can get really hard to find tees and clothes that you feel like you look kinda good in but aren't afraid to completely obliterate. They're tees hold up soooo well and I'm constantly throwing them on for work. So when I found this amongst the clearance section, I couldn't pass it up. Grey is totally my color and since I had been looking for a good bomber anyways, I really was just beyond stoked. XO

leather choker.

Tuesday, April 12, 2016

I'm definitely a little late on the bandwagon with the resurrection of chokers. I love a good 90's vibe, whether it's flannel, grunge style boots, the whole sha-bang. But I wasn't sure about wearing a choker again. We all had those stretchy plastic ones, and I'm thrilled to see they have been redesigned into so many classy collars. I got bored a few weeks ago and cut up some of my own leather and next thing I knew, I was wearing a customer choker. And suddenly it's all I want to wear. XO

embellished kimono.

Wednesday, April 6, 2016

This outfit of mine has been a go-to this past week or two. I'm able to throw it on with ankle boots to feel a bit dressed up for a recent dinner date or toss on some chucks for some errands and coffee. Not to mention, I got my entire outfit incredibly cheap! Each item (besides my gorgeous handmade necklace) was on sale! This kimono was a serious score - absolutely obsessed with the sleeve embellishment. And as for the denim, $5 at H&M! I understand fast fashion isn't meant to least but with such a deal, these are perfect for just throwing on and going about your day. As for my necklace, this was handmade by Maggie Antalek, jewelry designer and owner of Studdly. We met through my former roommate Bobby and she's just amazing. This piece is one so striking but so simple that I can wear it literally any day with any outfit. Even something as simple as a white tee. Check out her site for some one of a kind pieces and support local artists!
