grown-up version of overalls

At the beginning of a season, I make a list. One for items that I do not have, that I truly feel I need n my closet. Unlike every other purchase I usually make, which might I add are usually spontaneous and on a whim, these items I usually scout out for and am extremely picky about. Black overalls have been on this list of mine for about four seasons and I just couldn't find the ones, Surprisingly enough, I spotted the pair I fell in love with at Charlotte Russe for a mere $12. You'd be shocked how hard it was to find skinny, distressed, black denim overalls while still maintaining the structure of the "traditional" overalls. Can't wait to just throw these on with ankle boots and a tee or dress them up like I did here a bit. XO

I've always been and will always be a tomboy - so more masculine, menswear inspired pieces really complete my outfits for me. This vest is really such an amazing transitional piece that can be worse so many ways. If you don't have something like this in your wardrobe, it might be in your best interest to find one. Whether you like a print or prefer something more plain and simple, the blazer style vest is perfect for playing with layers and lengths. For this look, I went with a flowing, trapeze style dress as an under-pinning, but I know this would also be a killer look with slim denim and a mock turtleneck. Stay tuned to see me wear this a million ways because it's totally going to be a layering repeat all season. XO

Working on the visual team at Nordstrom, I meet/work with a lot of stylish people. The kind of stylish that is pretty much just embedded in your blood. Even if we're the girls who are simply rockin' jeans and a basic tee to work, we know how to dress once work hours are over. One of the girls whom I work with runs her own online boutique called Style Revolver. This amazing fuzzy jacket is from her shop and I have been wearing it on repeat since the moment she handed to me. (Best part is she calls is the Penny jacket, as in Penny Lane. So naturally I feel the need to channel my inner Kate Hudson circa Almost Famous while sporting this piece.) I love the light beige color as well, simply because knowing myself, I would completely ruin a white or cream coat. Be sure to visit Ashley's online boutique, maybe you'll even find some great gifts to give those stylish ladies in your life. XO

Last Wednesday was the South End stroll here in Boston and although I may not still work at Flock, I sure love to pop in and see all their amazing product, especially when they're having a fun event. Dani, the boutique owner, picks the most gorgeous product so I know I'll always find something I'll love forever. It was so awesome seeing my favorite Flockettes (& shop-dog Simon!). I had spotted this Show Me Your Mumu dress on Flock's instagram a week or so before and instantly fell in love - the colors, print, bell sleeves, high neckline. It seriously was the dress for me. Luckily it was meant to be and was waiting for me to take it home on Wednesday. Paired with simple fringe ankle booties and a cozy cobalt faux fur, I'm ready for holiday season in a more stylish alternative way than sequins and velvet. XO
