Unexpected.

Friday, June 26, 2015

For the most part, I hate button down shirts. I really mean it. I just find them SO un-flattering for my body type, I'm too busty and they give me no shape what so ever. And I'm by NO means preppy. Never want to be, never going to be. But then I came across this. About two months ago I had told myself I wasn't going to buy anymore clothes, and then spotted this gorgeous, hand dyed, sleeveless piece of gorgeousness at TJ Maxx. It changed my entire perspective. It's one of the softest fabrics I've ever touched, and has an open back which I find super feminine. The buttons are spread apart a a perfect length where I can leave an extra one undone without pushing the limits on being too risque. Plus the dye process the company used it just gorgeous. Naturally, I had to have it and now I find myself sporting my new favorite staple more than I'd ever imagine.

Black + Yellow.

Tuesday, June 23, 2015

This outfit isn't necessarily my favorite, and I even contemplated not posting it. But I guess others may even be able to benefit from my laziness. This was an outfit that I just threw on. Quite literally didn't know what to wear and grabbed this. I guess sometimes that's something other people might need to have an idea of, an grab and go outfit during crunch time. The easiest thing to wear is a black cotton dress. Dress it up/dress it down. This one is shapeless so I just slabbed a belt on for good measure. Literally any color belt goes with black so it all depends on personal style. I also was a culprit of seriously gnarly hair so - hats, hats, hats. As always, top it off with your leather jacket to toughen the edges.

Electric Lime

Tuesday, June 16, 2015

Feeling like a total housewife between the dress and shoe combination of this outfit. As I develop my style more and more, I realize how feminine I actually enjoy being sometimes. Maybe not so much being, and more just dressing the part. Sigh - Forever a tomboy. Deep down, a t-shirt and denim will always win me over.. But for now I'm 100% embracing this girly side I've been channeling. To break up the blend of fall-like colors, I swapped out a red belt with an electric lime one. Unexpected, yet totally perfect for a mimosa date with your girlfriends! XO

Lace Layers

Saturday, June 13, 2015

There's probably nothing in this world quite as feminine as lace. So layering different types of lace - both feminine and unexpected. As we all know, I'm a jeans and tee kinda gal, but it was nice to feel rather lady-like today. It gave a boost of confidence that sometimes you just need. These new clogs are made by the same company Uxibal that I had mentioned in my previous post. The fringe tassel is what sold me. I can move it to the side, the front, or take it off. It's practically 3 different types of clogs in one. Not to mention, these were incredibly easy to walk in and comfortable for the entire day. Mix the boho fringe with dainty lace and you have a seriously striking combination.

Pool daze.

One of my favorite things about summer: my mom's pool deck. It's the place where family friends all gather to enjoy each other's company. It's always been this way, and hopefully always will. As far back as I can remember, most of my summer days & nights were spent here. Late night swims during sleepovers, a quick dip after long runs or soccer/lacrosse practice, rushing home from the beach to jump in & get the sand off, getting yelled at by mom to stop pushing off the sides of the pool, the category games with my cousins. It's exciting to see Jack being part of this group where there's so much love. And not to mention, he's natural fish in the water. First time ever in a pool and he was absolutely ecstatic. Sorry for the Jack overload, just couldn't pass up the opportunity to take pictures of him while he's still a tiny babe.

Pink Floyd

Short post, I know. But I can explain! Some weird man was weirdly standing across the street while Nick shot these. It was something straight out of a horror movie - except he was carrying a fishing pole, not a machete or a chain saw. Even so, I'm pretty sure I would have died before I allowed anyone to take these gorgeous new Uxibal Dos Tonos ankle boots off my feet. Hand-crafted out of Guatemala, these beautifully constructed boots just made their way to Flock. (They aren't online yet but you can call and inquire about a pair or stop by the shop and visit me while you're at it.) I am so beyond excited to pair these with practically every outfit ever. Get ready to see these on repeat! XO

100th .

Sunday, June 7, 2015

Can you believe this is my 100th blog entry? What?! And not only that but I've also hit my 20,000th view. So insane to me. It might not seem like a lot to everyone - but as a blog that's just really started, it's a lot to smile about. What started as an easy outlet for my designs, ideas, and outfits has turned into my favorite hobby. I genuinely enjoy blogging. I (not so secretly) enjoy nagging Nick to take my photos (thanks Nick for never complaining, except maybe once). I enjoy going outside and constantly being on the lookout for new walls and cool backgrounds. I love going through my closet and brainstorming what I'm going to wear tomorrow, or maybe the next day, or what pieces might work better for an editorial kind of shoot. Thanks for taking the time to view my little website and being the reason I continue to post numerous times throughout the week. Without further-adu, my beach cover-up turned poncho. I wore this little number yesterday and went literally the entire day not realizing half the colors that are actually in this fabric. Hunter green, navy, pink. Such a striking piece that I thought it was too pretty to only wear to cover up after a long beach day. I can also imagine testing it's versatility come fall and wearing it as an over-sized scarf for layering and warmth.

Canadian Tuxedo

Thursday, June 4, 2015

Canadian tuxedos are SO underrated. I can't take total credit for this outfit. I spotted a very similar look on Pinterest and some creative juices were flowing. So laid back, so easy - yet classic. I can picture this being worn on a lunch date, errands, any type of little adventure. I feel that the key to getting away with denim on denim is easy. Stick to two very different shades of denim. The last thing you want is a Britney/Justin moment of having all the shade bland wash denim all over the place.
