What's in my bag?: vacation style!

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

Vacation season is here! I'm sure I'm not the only one looking forward to spending a few days soaking up some sunshine. If you're not entirely sure what to bring, here I am to help. You really don't need as many pieces as you probably think. A bathing suit or two, some shorts & tees, and a few cute dresses for any night time activity! Opt for a smaller bag and versatile shoes that you can intermix with many different pieces. As for pants, you really don't need them when you're somewhere very warm. So if you feel like bringing some, go for a lighter weight pair.

Rebel Rebel.

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Rebel, rebel. Your face is a mess. Nothing like a good Bowie t-shirt. I'm really starting the little collection but that was started quite some time ago. I've recently started posting pieces from my closet on the new app called PoshMark and while perusing other people's closets, I found this Chaser t-shirt for practically nothing. AND it was new with tags! The fit is perfect, the distressed fabric and rips are in perfect placements, I could go on and on.... I know I've said it before but I really mean it SO much. Tees are the most versatile items in your closet. I wear mine with everything. As you can clearly see right on this blog. This outfit is the epitome of my favorite pieces, all in one.
Here are the pieces I couldn't go without all in one outfit: 1. A vintage style band tee to make your outfit look little more fun. 2. A statement necklace (I got for silver & gold but color is always fun). 3. Ankle boots, every. damn. day! 4. Rings on rings on rings. 5. Denim. I reach for denim every day. Different washes, different fits. But all easy to transition and dress up or down for the day.

Ladakh Kimono

Thursday, March 19, 2015

SO much new merchandise at work and each pieces is as swoon-worthy as the next. Since Spring is practically here, time to whip out those more transitional pieces. One of my favorites: the kimono. This beautiful little number arrived at Flock last week and I am in loooove. Naturally, I had to try it on today. Steph Larsen and I took a few minutes to shoot the item on a person rather than try to style it into a flat-lay for Flock's Instagram and blog! And since I don't know how to work the magic of a camera on my own, I got to model away.
This Julia Crochet Kimono is made by Ladakh and can be worn with literally anything. Black is the easiest color to style during any season and not to mention, instantly looks more sophisticated than it would if it was any other color. The fringe is definitely a bonus. Since this pieces is so new that it isn't even on Flock's website yet, you can always send over an email to our awesome manager Alex (alex@flockboston.com) to see if we have your size still in stock. We can make it happen for you and you'll be rockin' this kimono in no time. Keep the look super minimalist in monochrome, only adding a pop of color with my sunglasses. Add a hat if you're feeling bold, or switch it up and wear the kimono over a dress or some cut off shorts. Have some fun with it. That's the best part. XO

Encore Apparel Company

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

What started as a shared vision between two friends, has become Encore Apparel Company. A vintage-inspired graphic t-shirt company based out of Charlestown, MA. I had the pleasure of going to design school with Mark Lisavich, co-founder of the company. The moment I heard about their new brand, I knew I'd love it. Mark has always been a wonderful person to be around and after hearing "encore" in their brand name, I knew it would be something exciting. Encores are the second wind, leaves you craving more. That's what their company does. I worked closely with both Mark and his business partner Casey and photographer Steph Larsen to get a good understanding of what they were looking for in a photo-shoot. They gathered inspiration for Steph and I to look through and I styled the e-commerce and lifestyle photo-shoots. The entire day was filled with so much positive energy and was seriously just pure magic. Enjoy the photos & be sure to check out their website! You can order all of the styles shown in the lifestyle shots, and believe me when I tell you, you won't want to wear any other t-shirt again.
Life is short, play it loud!

Custom gown & vests.

Saturday, March 14, 2015

Back in October, I created a wedding gown and nine groomsmens vests for some friends of a friend. Nicole and Dan got married at Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth, MA and their wedding was an absolutely dream. It was outdoorsy but with a vintage feel. Lots of lace and pleating on the gown, and as for the vests, they skipped the overcoat and had the vests be the focal point. The bride chose an amazing heavy plaid in rich colors with leather buttons. And for her gown, she chose only the softest silks. It was a great learning experience and I'm happy to have been a part of their big day. ALL photos were taken by Shane Godfrey Photography.

New sweater, new hair do (thanks Aunt Moe!). I am feeling like a whole new woman! This amazing little piece is from Lux Clothing. I have a problem with online shopping and stumbled across their Instagram not too long ago and fell IN LOVE with some of their pieces. It's a small company and I really do love to support those the most. Seriously so obsessed with this new cardigan. The neon on the back makes it stand out but still is neutral enough that I can wear it with pretty much anything. And the fringe is definitely a bonus. Always love a little fringe. Be sure to shop their site & remember to #livelifeinlux XO

Gypsy Warrior.

Saturday, March 7, 2015

Hell bound. For sure. Sorry Mom!
I've been following Gypsy Warrior on Instagram for what feels like forever now. My best friend Tori is constantly sporting their apparel and same goes for my sister. Then for Christmas, Tori got me some jewelry from there and I seriously felt compelled to buy more. (Oh, ps - it was started by two BFF's. Even cooler. I love that.) A gypsy warrior definitely hides somewhere inside of me and lately, she wants to come out. I've been on the prowl for any little thing to spark creativity and yearning for any sense of feeling free. And when I find those little things, I thrive. And when I don't, I get into weird funks. Sick of feeling stuck at times, so here's to doing whatever it takes to be on my A game. All the girls that represent their brand are bad ass bitches and I love it.
Here's to being a Gypsy Warrior. XO

Mauve

Thursday, March 5, 2015

Laid back, topknot, chunky sweater, and... a pop of color?! It was 40 degrees yesterday and I was practically ready to whip out the bikini. Anyone else with me on that one? I have too many clothes to fit on my garment rack so I have Spring apparel stored away for now. I decided to dig in and pull out a colorful piece to celebrate a little warmer weather. This dress is probably one of the easiest layering pieces. I know a lot of girls struggle with maxi dresses during any season besides summer, but here's a simple way to wear them year round. I prefer wearing maxi dresses instead maxi skirts - not sure why, I just do! I like the extra support and they never seem to fall down. Can't wait until the summer, this dress has an entirely open back that deserves to be flaunted.

Modern Love

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

Today was just one of those days where everything is amazing. Had the most amazing time yesterday styling a photoshoot with Encore Apparel Company that I absolutely cannot wait to share. My friend Mark from school is the co-founder of the new apparel company based out of Charlestown, MA with his business partner Casey. Can't wait to show you photos and tell you more about their wonderful company later this week! (For now, stay tuned!!!) I had an impromptu day off with my guy and got to see my family all day. Usually days like this only happen on holidays but I was lucky enough to have a random Tuesday filled with happiness. Even wore my favorite tee shirt from Flock. I mean, you can't help but be in a wonderful mood when you're rockin' a Bowie tee, am I right or what? Hoping the rest of this week continues to bring amazing things.
