Neon Lace.

Friday, May 29, 2015

You know when you just throw your hair up out of your face for what you want to be like literally five minutes but you unintentionally make the best bun ever and your whole hair routine for the morning changes? Yah, hi. That was yesterday morning. On top of the easy hair day, I went for easy going bottoms as well. I've been feeling kinda under the weather which has caused  me to neglect my blog, hair, and outfits. These neon shorts are so striking that you don't need any other item in your ensemble to stand out. Between these and my fingernails I'm a walking traffic cone.

Strange Combination

Saturday, May 23, 2015

This blouse. The color, the fabric, the deep V neckline. This blouse is everything. I have found the missing puzzle piece to my entire wardrobe. The plunging neckline is a little risque but not to the point of trashy. Of all people, I am one of those that can't usually pull of blouses that are rather open just because I'm a tad too busty to pull it off. But I can just imagine wearing this top over and over, whether it's with a lace peek a boo bralette underneath or maybe layered with dainty thin necklaces. Jeans, skirts, some cut offs. I JUST CANNOT EVEN CONTAIN MY EXCITEMENT. I paired this mustard/chartreuse toned piece of perfection with some red strappy sandals and a crisp white. Kinda apprehensive at first but let's be serious. Ketchup and mustard are a dynamic duo - automatically making these two pieces in my closet destined for something incredible.

Faded

Thursday, May 21, 2015

The fact that comfortable chic is all the rage is totally up my alley. Dress up your kicks with a silky blouse and you'll be able to look pulled together while wearing sneakers you could travel the world in. I call bullshit to anyone who would rather wear heels all day. Seriously. I won't ever believe you. Topped this look with a few dainty gold necklaces to give it just a bit more of an elegant look.

DeWolfe

Tuesday, May 19, 2015

It's made multiple appearances in outfit posts, instagrams,  etc. But my DeWolfe white leather backpack is one of my most prized possessions. It's beautifully hand-crafted, a striking crisp white, with gunmetal features. Gina DeWolfe was a design teacher at my college but it wasn't until after I was done with school that I really got a good understanding of the masterpieces she creates. All her pieces are items that you fall in love with at first glance. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way especially since she was recently selected as a top 5 finalist in the Independent Handbag Designer Awards. Not only is this an amazing opportunity for her to showcase her talent, but it's a wonderful platform for new talent to really emerge and make a name for themselves.

Herringbone

Saturday, May 16, 2015

Minimalist. Something I don't usually go for but add a little twist of my own style into "minimalist" and this outfit is the outcome. A different take on the basic jeans & white tee. But also a different take on the whole joggers trend.  These pants were part of my airplane outfit for when I headed to Mexico so I knew immediately this morning when I wanted ultimate comfort, these were the basis of my needs. These pants are from Flock Boston and I bought them all the way back in January. (& there's still plenty left to grab for yourself! OH - and they're on sale!) I've been dyyyyying to resurrect them from the back of my closet for Spring and now is finally the time. Unlike your typical jeans, there's a small herringbone pattern in the chambray material that gives the illusion of a different texture and I am totally a texture girl. To give this outfit a little composure I grabbed some ankle boots instead of Birkenstocks. (Not that Birkenstocks wouldn't look seriously adorable. Because they would.) Thanks Free People for making some seriously amazing pants. I'm so in love.

Bike Week '86

Thursday, May 14, 2015

Sometimes I really just have nothing to talk about during these blog posts. My morning routine for planning my outfit is either one of two things: 1. I know exactly what I'm going to wear OR 2. I have literally absolutely no clue what I want to wear and now I think I'm going to have a mental break down please send help SOS ahhhhhhhhh. I usually don't know which way it will turn until about 20 minutes before I have to leave for work. This morning, I was more of a number two. I kinda geeked out the last minute and just threw all these random items on. I couldn't have been bothered to try and make something else work. I've kinda been feeling blah blah blah lately and it's kinda showing in the way I've been dressing so I've been highly neglecting this blog of mine for about a week. And when I do actually pull myself together, I usually run out of time to grab a photo or two, let alone a whole posts worth. Sometimes I wonder if anyone is actually even reading these posts. So if you are: Hello! And thanks! Maybe next week I'll look a little better than I do right now.

On Repeat.

Friday, May 8, 2015

Dress look familiar? Yep, it's the same dress as the red & white striped one from the other day. I'm a culprit of buying things I like in various colors. This dress is just so easy to wear, that it would have been foolish not to buy a solid and a print to really make them look like two entirely different styles. While the other afternoon's look was a bit more flirty and fun for an afternoon date, this one is transformed to a bit more of a rocker, edgy look for an evening event. Flock had a studio sale last night where they collaborated with a few local shops to have a one night only shopping event. Nothing like shopping all your faves in one spot, yah know? Events like this are always a fun reason to play around with your style. And even though it's Spring, I just couldn't step away from the black. It's classy, it's easy. It's such a go-to.
(What actually goes on during these little photoshoots..
This cute blush pink wall is actually an old pizza shop and bar near my place.)

Yarn.

Wednesday, May 6, 2015

It was love at first sight with this yarn-detailed skirt this past winter. The texture is just something unlike any other. Now that the tights underneath are no longer needed, I'm even more excited to wear this stunning piece. I feel that I can honestly wear it with just about anything - a graphic tee, sweatshirt, denim jacket, leather, ANYTHING. Sometimes you just have to re-evaluate your own closet and bring out some seriously amazing pieces that you already own. This skirt is one of those pieces I was so eager to bring back to life. It's the most wallet friendly way to step up your style game. Just go through and re-create new looks with old classics. This was my sister/grandma date outfit. Perfect for a beautiful afternoon to walk around, enjoy each other's company and just appreciate each other. Love these kind of days.
